Ode to Winter Weather that Returneth
Oh morning in Edison, NJ - 08820
I awaken to see a white blanket of mush and slush
Covering the emerging daffodils and deer poop on my lawn
Falling silently during the night
While I lay awake, listening to my slumbering husband snore
To beat the band
Why doth thou return when I had thought ye gone?
Must ye torment me with thy glistening reminder
That man is but a meaningless afterthought?
Mother Nature is surely in charge
And decideth when I go to the mall
To take advantage of the Nordstrom twice a year sale
Or not.

ReplyDeleteBeauty, brains, humor AND poetry? Is there anything you can't do? Amazing. I may just have to take a minute here, and reflect on Mother Nature. She's ok here in Vegas, except for June, July and August, when she is a Bitch with devil horns and a pitchfork.
ReplyDeleteOh, Theresa, don't stop! Especially with the beauty part. (We were in Las Vegas last August and yes, it WAS 108 DEGREES).
ReplyDeleteIt was 83 in Richmond on Friday. I went down and hung out by the river three days in a row. The South is totally awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis was GREAT! As for that sale? 4-wheel drive!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. winter weather, go back from whence you came.
